Several Suggestions For Child Behavior Modification
When a mother or father is faced with his kid's behavior problems, he should first of all make an effort to identity the type of problem. This will help the parent to deal with the child much more effectively and help them achieve child behavior modification. Behavioral issues in a child could be of different kinds. For example, disorderly behavior, tantrums, defiant behavior conduct disorder or even attention deficit disorder all of these could cause problems.
While for attention deficit disorder and defiant behavior sometimes it's advisable to get help from an expert but most of the time parents can themselves handle child behavioral problems of their child after all behavior is learned from home!
Most of the time the parents may help themselves in their child behavior modification through some easy steps.
1. Set limits for your child.. This implies that as a mother or father you must make clear cut distinctions between the desired behavior and the undesirable behavior. As a mother or father one should inform the kid about his/her limits.
2. Do not make too many rules. While setting the limits or the do's and don'ts for your baby a mother or father should know that there should not be too many rules. This could actually hold back the development of the kid as it's going to kill his willingness to experiment and promote open thought.
3. Make sure that the rules you make for your child are flexible so that your own child could enjoy space and you as a mother or father need to break your own rules to accommodate your child's wishes. This can actually develop a healthy bond between the child and the parent.
4. Don't give in to your child's unreasonable demands. As a mother or father one should be cautious as to not to give in to their own child's unreasonable demands. This at a later stage can cause defiant disorder as the child would assume that displaying tantrums would make parents gullible.
5. Always give reason to your kid for not accepting or fulfilling the child's demands. Instead of simply saying that do not do this as I told you so, give a reason. This will not only make the child understand but also trust you.
6. Never shout or over react towards your child's undesirable conduct this will invariably make him or her stubborn. Instead give good reason for your displeasure of the behavior. Find out different ways and means to correct your child's behavior. Sometimes a stern look can be more effective compared with a shout.
7. Be firm. Parents should always remember that they do not deviate from their statements. A 'no' must be a 'no' and should not turn to a yes at any circumstance. This can help in not only disciplining the child but also modifying faulty behaviors.
If parents can be careful in ensuring that they keep the above mentioned pointers in mind, they'll surely be able to make sure they're able to get their child behavior modification objectives fulfilled in a smooth manner without having to shout or hit the child.
