Who Are You Modeling?
The other day I was speaking to an associate at the health club I just registered at. (Never had the time when I was working for someone else.) We started having a conversation about our personal trainers. If you aren't familiar with the phrase, these are fitness pros who are educated to make up with work-out routines based on personal strengths, needs and targets.
Either way, Rick said something that struck me right in the middle of my eyes. "I got so overwhelmed reading all the books and fitness magazines. Each of us has a different thoughts of what rewards the best. I eventually figured if I was going to strengthen my fitness, I might as well pick one expert, be attentive to them and put in action their routine."
Later, as I was driving my pained body home, I was thinking about how suitable Rick's response was to internet marketing. Everyone's an expert. (Even people who were unable to sell their first eBook.) And there exist million programs, books, secrets, techniques and systems that will work for you.
The only thing is, you can very easily fall into what my favorite business school professor named, "Analysis Paralysis". That's where a lot of people are having difficulties. They keep reading, and it gets in the way of really work on something.

I was guilty of this, too. I must have paid for several hundred dollars worth of books and courses before I realized what was working for me, with my very own internet business.
Fortunately, the expert I decided to follow was, in hindsight, an extraordinary choice. And by listening to his advice and following his ideas, I have built up a number of thriving cash flow streams.
I'm not saying that my "guru" is the right one for everyone. The point is to select one or maybe a number of people you really appreciate, and model them. Of course, see if they are truly successful in their own businesses first. But when you see someone you appreciate and whose style you like, listen to their tips and listen to what they propose in their writings.
